About Ad hoC traductores

Ad hoc traductores

Ad hoC traductores was created in 2001 when two translators, Montse Cid and Elena Pérez, decided to pool the enthusiasm, experience and knowledge we had accumulated over years of working as freelance translators. We both graduated in translation and interpreting in the middle of the 1990s and since then we have worked fulltime in our chosen career. We love what we do and we believe this is reflected in jobs that are well done and perfectly balanced between creativity and accuracy. We translate from English, French, Danish and Portuguese into Spanish, our mother tongue, and we are very proud of our mastery of our language. We put a great deal of effort into constantly improving our work by attending specialised training courses, using the most modern translation tools and actively participating in translator lists and forums. Our objective is to offer impeccable quality and service.

Montse Cid, translatorMontse Cid graduated in English and German Translation and Interpreting in 1995 from the University of Granada. As a result of the Erasmus exchange programme, she had the opportunity to study the 1993-94 course at the CBS in Copenhagen, where she fell in love with the Danish language and culture. In 1995 she did a legal and economics translation course at the Estudio Internacional Sampere in Madrid and in 1999 she moved to Barcelona to do a postgraduate course in legal translation at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She was appointed as a sworn translator for English by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001. As she is interested in translation research, she has studied distance courses in the doctoral programme “Translation, Society and Communication” given by the University of Granada and the Jaume I University of Castellon. At the moment she is doing research work on the translation of company incorporation documents. As a result of her training, she usually translates legal, economic, financial and administrative documents, combining them with her true passion: medical translations. She is a member of the Spanish Association of Translators, Proofreaders and Interpreters (ASETRAD).

Elena Pérez, translatorElena Pérez is a Graduate in English and German Translation and Interpreting from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a sworn translator for English appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her second degree course year was spent as an Erasmus student at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, which not only enabled her to learn Danish, but also gave her the chance to study the subjects of law and international relations at an international school. At the end of her degree course, she obtained a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further her knowledge of Danish at the University of Copenhagen. In order to continue her education in the field of translation, she did the “Advanced Course in Legal Translation into Spanish” at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, passed her Ph.D. candidacy exam in the doctoral programme “Translation, Society and Communication” of the University of Granada and has just finished the Posgraduate Course in Audiovisual Translation offered by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In addition to her linguistic and translation training, she has participated in the “Company Creation and SME Management Programme” of the Escuela de Organización Industrial Business School and she has studied several subjects of the Political Science degree course with UNED, the Spanish Open University. She is a member of the Spanish Association of Translators, Proofreaders and Interpreters (ASETRAD). She started her professional activity in Dublin, Ireland, mainly translating technical texts. However, over the years she has concentrated above all on medical and legal texts.
